indon candra wijaya and sigit budiarto was up against dark horse, usa tony gunawan and howard bach. it was an excellent match, with all of the games going neck to neck. the shots were unhumanly precise and fast. however, the indon pair lost, due to the comparatively small group of supportors (usa pair is in their homeground.) and plain old bad luck.

the first game had the usa pair leading all the way. both teams had a fast start up altho it took indon slightly longer, losing the advantage for the first game. the 2nd game had the indons more determined than ever to push for a 3rd set. the battle waged furiously with sigit making several spectacular saves, making something out of nothing. smashes were at an all-time fast speed, with shots going up to 304km/h, the fastest smash seen this season. the indons kept at least a 4 point lead on the americans during the 2nd match and brot a 15-10 win against the usa pair for the 2nd game.

during the 3rd game, both teams seemed to be fuelled with superhuman willpower and neither seemed to allow the other side to get more than a 2 mark lead at any one point during the first half of the game. the americans hit the 8point mark first, leading to the change of sides. the indon pair took charge of the game and played with a cool head leading to a 5point increment and a 3point lead against the usa pair, who seemed undoubtedly frustrated to a point of distraction with bach making several mistakes and errors.

however, with strong overwhelming support from the crowd, the usa pair came back with a force to be reckoned with. sheer determination and steely focus proved to be a deadly combination as the usa pair pummelled head on and emerged victorious. it was a historical turning point for usa as this was the first ever gold medal for the usa in the world of badminton. tony gunawan and howard bach, seeded 13th, defeated candra wijaya and sigit budiarto seeded 2nd, spectacularly, making this match undeniably the highlight of the season.

wow. i'm such a good reporter. i cld make a living out of this. blatantly biased tho. i'm a indon-supporter. TAUFIKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK~!!! and damn commentator kept pronouncin his last name as heedee-yaet. damn them. medicine making me incoherent and drowsy. feel the need to just plonk down on the couch the snooze. no stats on this game, cuz i think i fell asleep thru it. hahahaha. sorreh. =\
