two things to update abt. the bbq which kicked ass despite the cost. and the peace concert 2005 which OWNED.

BBQ FAREWELL. (18 Nov)

the bbq was pretty good. despite the cost. it was, to quote sam fong, one helluva party. i dun really wanna go into ALL the details. but i think some things i must mention.

firstly. DO NOT CATER A BBQ IF YOU HAVE LESS THAN 25 PEOPLE GOING AND LESS THAN HALF PAYING. always always do it yourself. the slight inconvenience u go thru to DIY is really worth it. cuz A) u get more variety. and more importantly B) it burns a HELL LOT SMALLER hole in your pocket than if you cater.

2ndly. when there's liquor. make sure u open it only 2.5 hours into the bbq. when people are more settled esp if you only have a small quantity and a group of easily addicted youngsters. also make sure that you can make a pot of tea asap cuz when some people get abit tipsy and/or high. the tea makes them more sober.

3rdly. always always have a good host. make sure you hold your party at a place big enough and with enough entertainment i.e. internet. laptops. mahjong. cards. etc etc. like we did for the bmt farewell. we can only express our deepest gratitude to rafael low and his very hospital family. =)
4thly. thank the guests and be apologetic if they have to pay extra. even if its just 1 buck. esp if the money they were supposed to pay was already exhorbitant.

5thly. get enthusiastic easy-going guests. IMPORTANT.

PEACE CONCERT 2005. (19 Nov)

the peace concert at the SAS (singapore american school) OWNED. there's no other word for it. i had no idea how many good local bands there were. but i guess the degree of locality is um. questionable for most bands there. but i really must mention 3 bands. cuz they were the ones who passed the line between "owned" and "OWNED".

firstly. RONIN. i've heard a couple of their songs before. but i havent seen them play live. and seeing as i only listened to 1 or 2 of their songs. i didnt really find out shit abt them. so when the albino guy came on stage, it came to me as, to say the least, a surprise. and even more so of one when he came on wearing a SKIRT. but oh my god. did he rock the house when the band started playing.

i was a bit skeptical when i heard 2 girls beside me and cheryl saying "albinos are so hot." i still am. but this particular albino was so freakin cool that i found him kinda hot. he really is something to behold when he starts performing on stage. i am AWED. i think i mite blow some cash next week to buy their album.

2ndly. BREAKFAST CLUB. the chinese guitarist was SO SO SO SO SO SO SO FANTASTIC. his solos were really really really really damn good. it was enough to be hailed!!!!!! unfortunately. my ears were ringing so bad. i cldn't catch his name. but omg. their playing was fantastic. i wonder if they have a website i can check out like ronin. i dun mind poppin over to some of their shows too. hmm...

3rdly. SET FOR GLORY. they were the youngest band to play for baybeats and i got a full 25 min set for 10 bucks with other bands thrown in as well. like oh my god. and the bassist is so cute. malay with the look of a bad boy rocker. he so totally drew my attention away from the lead singer who was a tom-delonge lookalike. yes. he was THAT cute. and his stage presence is a hell lot better than the lead vocals. at least to me. i think he's more spontaneous. and tt i think really counts for a lot.

i really have to thank cheryl and sudhan for coming over with me. i think i wldn't have gone if i didnt have their company. and i dont think i wld've enjoyed it any better with anyone else. thanks!!!! =) i HEART you guys.
