While studying this morning, I got a sudden inspiration and ironically, it's about love.

You know how people always go on and on abt soulmates and how there's only one? Well. My philosophy differs. I don't believe there's only one person in the entire world tt's meant to be your soulmate but many different similar people.

How I derived that? Simple: while studying Bio. Enzymes are meant to be specific in their catalytic action and some guy came up with the lock and key model where one enzyme can only bind to a specific substrate. But some other guy discovered that its not true and that a more probable mode of action would be an induced fit where similar substrates (e.g. protein) would bind to proteases (e.g. trypsin/pepsin) at the active site causing the enzyme's 3D-configuration to alter and shift so that the reaction could be metabolised.

Where is all this leading to? It leads to my philosphy that there isnt a specific person destined as your soulmate but many different kinds of similar people. Of course the one that's the induces the best fit would be the best soulmate but hey the others arent so bad either! So, chances of having a "successful collision to form ES-complexes" increases because the number of people meant to be your soulmate increases (i.e. concentration of substrate increases).

However, having many different soulmates applies to not only you but also to your soulmates. Hence, there is competitive inhibition. This means anybody that can tempt your soulmate away (read: people who are better looking, more capable and sickeningly sweeter than you) causing a sigmoid curve where unless your presence around tt particular soulmate is increased greatly (i.e. high substrate concentration) the chances of having a successful collision (read: hooking up) greatly decreases.

Then, there are also several incidents in life that could cause non-competitive inhibition (allosteric inhibition, in this case) where it could cause the enzyme (in context: either you or your soulmate, depending on who the incident falls on) where an allosteric inhibitor binds to the allosteric site and alters the 3D-configuration (read: the person's chacter) hence altering the active site (the requirements for their soulmate changes) as well.

This allosteric inhibitor could be any incident where it alters the person character without any direct influence on the person's physical attraction (meaning "good-looking", "pert ass" "nice body" kinda thing. Generalisations that applies to both men and women) to specific people. One example would be where the enzyme turns homosexual and comes out, hence the substrate is simply no longer women but men. Another example could be an illness, a long struggle between life and death, hence the guy changes his perspective and looks for someone else entirely, maybe from bloodthirsty lawyer to peace-loving nurse. You get the drift.

However, substrate affinity (Km) is the same meaning the chances that he would be attracted to you remains the same. However, Vmax is not achieved because the enzyme does not want to be binded to someone like that. In simpler terms, that while he may be attracted to you, the way women are attracted to Brad Pitt, no one wants a two-faced cheating lying bastard who goes for a really sexay woman on their next work assignment. But some people are really stupid and still end up with that kinda men (which is why it is not a linear y=0 line but a small curve with Km constant) but the number is greatly reduced (Vmax is not achieved).

Yup, I've got the dating scene all sussed out.

You know your brain's getting fried when you can relate something like enzymes to love. Sigh.
